How does SpeakLike translate what I say?
SpeakLike combines the best of machine translation technology with human translators to translate your text quickly, accurately and in real-time.
How do I get in the Beta program?
Submit your email in the form on the Home page to apply to the beta program.
How do I create an account?
Click on the "Sign Up" link and then follow these steps:
- Complete the form with your invitation code, your name, your email address, a password you'll remember etc. During the beta period, you must have an invitation code to participate.
- After signing up, an email will be sent to you. Please click on the link to confirm your email address.
- After you have confirmed your email you may sign in and download the application.
When is the service available?
Though we have limited hours during our beta period, we will soon be available 24/7. New languages will be introduced on limited schedules. You can find the schedule on your account page.
How much does it cost?
Following our beta period, the introductory pricing for SpeakLike starts at $0.10 per short translated message.
Where do you get your translators?
We find our translators all over the world.
Do I have to schedule translation conversations in advance?
No you don't, but we are looking at enabling this if a special kind of translator is required.
Do you charge by the minute or word?
We charge by the message. Following the beta period, pricing starts at $0.10 per message for short messages.
How do I add my friends to SpeakLike?
During the beta period, you can send up to 5 friends your invitation code so that they can register. Once they've registered, you click Add Contact in the SpeakLike application to chat with these friends.
Does SpeakLike work with other instant messaging software?
SpeakLike does not currently work with other instant messaging software.
How do I connect to a translator?
Once you've created an account, sign in using the SpeakLike software. When you begin chatting with a user who speaks another language, you will see a color-coded icon to confirm that translation service is available for that language.
What are the system requirements for SpeakLike?
SpeakLike requires Windows XP or Vista PCs with 1 meg of hard drive space and an internet connection.

Where can I update my account information?
On the Account Details page, you can update your email address, password, address and billing information. You can also view your Account History to see all charges and credits to your account.
How do I get transcripts of my current conversation?
That feature is not available currently.
